Privacy Policy

Still to fill in before you publish: your postal address, your email provider, and the retention period (both marked in bold below). Read the whole document and check each statement is actually true of how you operate. This is a starting template, not legal advice — given you handle children's information, a lawyer's review is worth the cost.
This policy explains how MeritPeak (ABN 25 993 439 649) collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
Through the forms on this website, we collect:
- Parent or guardian details: name, email address, phone number and, for the practice paper download, suburb.
- Student details: your child's first name and current school year, where you provide them when booking an assessment. Sessions are conducted online by video call.
- Quiz results: if you complete the practice quiz and request more questions, your score is submitted with your enquiry so we can pitch material at the right level.
We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send us, sensitive information such as health, medical or biometric details through these forms.
A note on children's information. We only collect a child's first name and year level, and only when a parent or guardian chooses to give it. We ask that enquiries be submitted by a parent or guardian rather than by the student.
Why we collect it
- To contact you about your enquiry and arrange a free assessment.
- To send the free practice materials you requested.
- To tailor a tutoring program to your child's year level and needs.
- To send occasional preparation tips and updates, where you have asked for them.
You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time by replying to any message or contacting us at the address below.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, including:
- Netlify — hosts this website and processes form submissions.
- [Your email provider, e.g. Google Workspace] — receives and stores enquiry emails.
- [Any CRM or mailing tool you add later]
Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By submitting a form you consent to that overseas disclosure.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for [e.g. two years] after your last contact with us, or longer where we are required to by law. If you become a client, we keep records for the period required for tax and business purposes. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
How we protect it
This site is served over HTTPS, and access to form submissions is restricted to people who need it to respond to your enquiry. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
